Local chef Sam Higgs must like to multi-task. How else can you explain his semi-regular monthly food event "grub-a-dub" where Higgs would prepare a vegan meal while on-stage a dub band entertained the diners. It combined going out to a restaurant with a live show. After a hiatus Higgs has brought back "grub-a-dub." Rechristened the "stew and brew hootenanny," tonight at the Tranzac Higgs will prepare a stew (think of all those yummy fresh summer......

Torontoist wants to make sure we don't forget to send e-cards and presents to the lovely folks at Wavelength. Sure we've been getting our CBC fix from sites like this but we want this lockout to end soon. So in the spirit of the Simpsons, we're sending our love down the errr picket line. Actually this......

Torontoist has written about upstart U of T publication the Naive Journal before, and remembers being impressed by the publication's attempts to look at an overexposed topic (i.e. homelessness) with fresh eyes. The Naive's next issue, the zine's fourth, explores the well-travelled ground of the consumer/anti-consumer debate. The editors at the Naive Journal recap some of the debate's feister contests like U of T alumnus turned globe-trotting anti consumerist documentary maker Naomi Klein vs. cheeky,......

Torontoist has always been a little concerned at the health of Toronto's indie rock community. The bulk of the crowd at indie rock shows seem to never get enough sun, fresh air and healthy exercise. Something to do with staying out till 4:00 AM, hanging outside with cigarette smokers and wrestling a Labatt 50 induced hangover the next morning. So when we heard of Track and Field, the weekend mini festival that takes place on......
