Yonge Street gets draped in pride Pride Toronto expected about 1 million people to come out to the parade this year. This Torontist enjoyed the parade this year, and was also impressed on how much cleaner the area seemed after the parade.... compared to last year. Also, congratulations to the TNT Men Enjoying Nudity who won the award for Best Celebration of the 2006 Theme: Fearless. After the jump: some goods from the celebrations......

The Triim Show closed off Saturday's Pride festivities at the Labatt's South Stage. If you haven't been down to Church Street this weekend, there is still one more day of fun at Pride Toronto. The Parade starts at 2pm on Sunday afternoon at the corner of Bloor Street East and Church Street, moves westward to Yonge Street, proceeds south on Yonge Street to Gerrard Street, moves eastward on Gerrard Street where it finishes at......

After a week of pridelicious events, it's now time to take over downtown Toronto, drink a lot of beer, make some noise, wear colourful threads.... wait, is this a post about The World Cup or Pride Toronto? Anyhow, Pride Toronto Weekend is finally here, and just like on St. Patrick's where everyone's Irish... everyone's Queer this weekend... There is so much to do and most of it is free. And since the weather seems......

Last night the Pride Toronto Gala and Awards benefit went down at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District. At $250 a plate, this was a major event and fund-raising effort that attempted to honour "community members who have demonstrated extraordinary achievement to queer life." Here, the word 'community' is not limited to Toronto, despite this being a Pride Toronto event. In fact, only half of the awards went to Toronto-ish people: HIV researcher Sharon......

This Torontoist has been to prides in three cities. My first began with a serendipitous walk on 5th Avenue in New York City four years ago. With nearly 300 groups represented in their Pride March, it was quite the introduction to the celebration of queerocity. Only after did I go to my own city's Pride: Divers/Cite. With a strong community focus, the Montreal Parade tears through downtown... or at least used to... But the......

Toronto Pride is touted as the biggest in Canada... North America... or the world or something. Every queer and their mother told me this tidbit before I moved here, so I had to come and see. After having a great time at the parties and the Church and the community festivities, I checked out the parade. After being pelted with a Gillette® razor, Trojan® condoms and some Naya® water from the passing floats, I......

Ontario Courts rule that lesbian couples can be registered as parents of babies conceived through artificial insemination. Ryerson is slated to give an honourary degree to noted contraversial anti-equal-marriage ethicist Margaret Somerville on the eve of Pride Toronto. (Update: you can sign a petition to disinvite her if you are so inclined.) InsideOut Audience and Jury Award Winners were announced with a number to Toronto queers on the list. d'bi.young's Androgyne starts its short......

This weekend you've got two big to-do's vying for your attention - on the mainland, Pride Toronto wraps up a week of festivities with party after party and loads of live music. The full list of performers is too expansive to get into, but it includes David Usher, Carole Pope and Rough Trade, Lesbians On Ecstasy and Gentleman Reg. More detailed schedules of performances and locations available here. If you're more hoodies than cut-offs, there's......
