We went to the opening of the Kozyndan "Tales of the Bunnyfish" show at Magic Pony last Thursday. Kozyndan are the L.A.-based, husband and wife duo Dan and Kozue Kitchens. They are best known for illustrating The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" single, but they work in both the commercial and fine art worlds. Not only is the installation at Magic Pony a fantastic example of two artists working as one, but also how cute can transcend kitsch. For example, at the opening Magic Pony served Bunnyfish-shaped sugar cookies. As delicious as they were, more than one will end up framed and hanging on a wall.

We had a healthy discussion on animal band names on this blog and noticed that Zoilus has been having a rollicking talk on yet another naming trend, the professional occupation or as Zoilus puts it "Yuppie Band Names."

There's no real analysis needed here, so here you have the basics: The Islands are two individuals from the Unicorns, who wrote the song to counter the absurdism of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" The track and its four versions feature impressive-slash-slightly unnoticable contributions by David Cross, Malcolm McLaren, Feist, Wolf Parade, Arcade Fire, Buck 65, Beck, Karen O, Sonic Youth, Postal Service, Rilo Kiley and almost everyone else. After a tiring day of people watching and celeb spotting we headed over to local jeweler Sarah Rocks who opened her studio doors for a gem of a sale.  There was lots to choose from including semi-precious necklaces, earrings and bracelets, but TOist opted for her popular feathered pins
