A veteran of the Toronto theatre scene, playwright and producer trey anthony is best known for turning her one-woman play 'Da Kink in my Hair into an international success story, selling out the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, as well as shows in London (U.K.) and San Diego. She has earned four Doras and four NAACP awards and created a national television series based on the play. Trey is currently producing her brother's debut play, Secrets of a Black Boy, which opens September 23.

City backs away from plan to buy its own sidewalk food carts. And to think, it only took about ten thousand "what the hell is the city doing buying food carts, just let people buy their own damn food carts" comments and articles for the City to get the message! Toronto is getting more responsive every day, it really is.

It was only inevitable; indeed, they would say we asked for it. The Secret, the latest in a long line of mega-selling self-help phenomena, is on its way to Toronto. Several "teachers" featured in the original film and the subsequent book will be holding forth on April 14th and 15th at the Westin Harbour Castle. The promotional literature is distinguished by its modest proposal: "The Secret to everything—the secret to life filled with joy, good health, financial freedom, loving relationships, abundant energy, youth: everything you ever wanted." Profundity and provocation are sure to be the order of the day.

Has Torontoist used this title before? We honestly can’t remember, but it’s an easy (if lazy) joke to make about the Toronto International Film Festival Group’s International Film Festival for Children, Sprockets, which is running from tonight until April 30th.
