Austinist gets arty with an interactive guide to SXSW, loved some local art galleries and a new art exhibit and lamented the possible loss of "Friday Night Lights" production to New Mexico.

The Art Gallery of Ontario's latest exhibition features the work of two photographers: Alfred Eisenstaedt and Ansel Adams. In the early 20th century, both photographers were pushing the limits of their craft -- though in opposite directions. Eisenstaedt took to the streets and snapped people in cities, while Adams sought out wild landscapes and untouched mountain passes. The AGO's special exhibition fills three large rooms with B&W images, most of them from the 1930's and '40's, when both photographers were honing their skills.

Artist and photoblogger HiMY SYeD likes to claim Woodbine Beach as his canvas. See him do so tonight as he creates a lantern work of art monument to spell out Nagasaki Hiroshima. The Full Circle project is an offshoot of a series of events taking place worldwide. SYeD has charted the progress of a group of Buddhist Monks who have walked for twenty-five days to raise awareness, and keep alive and 'atomic flame' that will finally be extinguished 60 years to the date. "To co-incide to the minute in realtime in New Mexico with extinguishing of the atomic flame," SYed will move his lanterns into place at 11pm. The lantern lighting ends at 11:30pm. And everything begins around 9pm.
