BENEFIT: In support of international children's aid organization ONEXONE, Maple Leaf Gardens will be opening its doors to the public for the first time in eight years. The 2008 ONEXONE Benefit Concert will feature performances by Grammy Award–winner John Legend; the African Children's Choir; The Canadian Tenors; and the ultimate ambassador for children and strippers alike, Wyclef Jean. Yes, the malls are packed, people are getting antsy about finishing all of their Christmas shopping, and sometimes it seems to be simply the season of consumerism gone amok, but the holidays are also about remembering and helping those who are less fortunate. In that spirit, here’s a great event on Thursday featuring many of the city’s best singers, songwriters and musicians.

Torontoist has always been a sucker for piano pop. You should see us croon along to Elton John or Billy Joel.... but we think that sometimes it's best to leave piano pop to the professionals, people like Mike Evin.
