Torontoist is ending the year by naming our Heroes and Villains of 2007––the people, places, and things that we've either fallen head over heels in love with or developed uncontrollable rage towards over the past twelve months. Get your dose, starting Boxing Day and running into the new year, three times a day––sunrise, noon, and sunset. "Initially, when I saw the design, I was most reticent." Those words were Michael Lee-Chin's, on Daniel Libeskind's concept......

From price hikes to bomb hoaxes, the ROM has been a constant news item this year. But while Thorarinn......

Dr. David Evans is an Associate Curator in the ROM's Vertebrate Paleontology department. Upon assuming the job in May, he was assigned the task of finding a flagship sauropod specimen to display in the museum's upcoming exhibit (opening December 15) within the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. Little did Evans know that he didn't have far to look. While on a scouting trip to Wyoming, the bone buff came across an article by noted sauropod expert......

Click any of the photos to view them larger. Like much of Toronto, we've been a little ROMsessed this week with the opening of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, and now that the public has been allowed in for a peek while it's empty (until June 10), some fantastic photos continue to be added to the Torontoist Flickr pool. With all the hype around our jagged new conversation piece, what tickles us most is how......

The public will be allowed into the ROM's empty new galleries until June 10, when the Museum begins......

We've been watching the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal forming around the ROM since construction began in May of 2003, and now Torontoist is pleased to be the first media outlet to bring you photos of the nearly-finished interior. Read-on to see if all the fuss was worth it and to learn more about this extraordinary building.......

As noted in today's Daily Photoist, it's a big week for the Royal Ontario Museum, with the public unveiling of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal days away. Will any of the displays added to the new galleries over the next year wrest the claim of "most unusual exhibition" title from today's ad? Probably, since Animals in Art's claim appears to be hanging artwork in the ROM instead of, say, the Art Gallery of Ontario. The......

Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve! With the official ROM architectural opening less than a week away (more on that later this week), we thought this shot by Torontoist Flickr pool contributor rebootyourcomputer was timely. What catches our attention is the dramatic sky and sense of scale,......

Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve! This morning, Toronto photographer ekati (Kate) reminds us to look up with this beautiful image of the grand rotunda entrance ceiling at the ROM. This mosaic is truly a sight to behold, and here it's been captured in all......
