The year is winding down and so is the music, which is kind of nice, actually, because there seem to be a lot of tours already gearing up for 2007. Hopefully Alexisonfire isn't one of them...we have no idea how they can manage to go onstage and scream for 7 solid days (they have a few more shows this week). Insanity. Best bets for this week include Royal Wood tonight at the Cameron House......

Chart Attack and CBC Radio 3 reported that hackers have gotten in and deleted the MySpace account of local indie rockers Magneta Lane. The popular band lost over two years worth of fan comments and 7,000 friends. The ladies are getting back on their feet though. As of the writing of this post Magneta Lane has a functional page again, with videos and music and 372 friends. As for those alleged Turkish hackers that did......

As the weeks draw closer to the holidays, we're seeing less and less shows listed -- which really sucks, because one can only take so much Christmas music...and we've already heard enough of it to drive us insane. Yeah, yeah, bah humbug. That said, it's quite possible we'll be checking out Twisted Sister's 'A Twisted Christmas' tomorrow. The vision of Dee Snider in full makeup and crazy hair, possibly wearing a Santa suit and......

Tsk, tsk. Late two weeks in a row. Someone needs a good spanking. Next week we'll get our act together and put Torontoist before busy schedules and get this puppy out on time. Pinky swear. As always, let us know in the comments section if you're heading to any good shows that we missed. Particularly for this Thursday...we need some hot action that night. Recently Announced Sept. 11 - M Ward @ Mod Club, $16.50......

A day late this week, but when you see the crazy number of new shows recently announced, you’ll understand why. With so much variety, there should be something for everyone coming up in the next month or so. Due to the large number of show listings, there will be no links this week (hey, it takes a LONG time to link up this stuff, my friends). As always, if there’s something we’ve missed and......

Despite the crappy weather outside Toronto's musicians seem to have come out of hibernation. If you have the stamina and money burning a hole in your pocket you could probably hit almost a dozen shows and enjoy each one. Start tonight by going to see Henri Faberge and the Adorables celebrate their first birthday at the Embassy. This one's free so you're spending your money on drinks, which is a very good thing. Or head......

A relatively light upcoming week in shows still has some fine musical happenings to help you kill time while waiting for the apocalypse. And curiously, all on the waterfront. Harbourfront's excellent summer festival schedule continues Friday through Sunday with T.O. Twang, billed as "Toronto's first and only alt.country festival". In addition to musical performances from such excellent acts as The Sadies, Carolyn Mark, Billy Joe Shaver, Elliot Brood, Luther Wright & the Wrongs and The......

Canadian Music Week, which is not really a week, kicks off tonight with what looks like a promising line-up. Then again, with like 200 bands, how could there NOT be a promising line-up? The CMW shotgun approach has Torontoist looking forward to this small smattering of shows: Absynthe Minded, Thursday March 3 at Kathedral @ 10:00 pm Barbie Bangkok, Thursday March 3 at The Drake Hotel @ 12:30 am controller.controller, Wednesday March 2 at The......

A brief overview of Toronto music happenings finds some exciting and some not-so-exciting news. Aw yeah. - Dizzee Rasclat Bumbal Squat is coming out with new sneaks. Unfortunately they are Nikes. The up side is he will be at the Opera House on April 28. - Hipe-with-an-'i' NYC band The Bravery make their T-dot debut on April 13. - The RZA is rzarecting the Wu ideology for a new book, Wu-Tang Manual: Enter the 36......

Chalk it up to American Thanksgiving, or maybe the NHL lockout, or even Anna Nicole Smith's 37th birthday (today! all the best, Anna), but this weekend got really big all of a sudden. Friday night, if you're outside the BDB-Magneta Lane-Tragically Hip circles, you've got options. There's Ellen Allien's Bpitch beats at the Mod Club (Listen to a neat interview with her here). Then there's the Femme Generation at Sneaky Dee's (read more here). Then......

For lovers of new music and concerts, Friday night often means making tough decisions. Do you check out the local up and comers, or do you see the established favourites? Or, do you maybe pay a visit to the band just passing through? This particular Friday is no exception, with the Tragically Hip and Joel Plaskett rockin' the Air Canada Centre and Badly Drawn Boy stopping in at the Palais Royale. But really, the Hip......
