Well, it's about time. Two years after launching downloadable television shows south of the border, Apple has finally flipped the switch here, albeit with a dearth of content. Single television episodes are available via iTunes for $1.99, and full seasons range from about $10–$30. Most of the shows currently available are for domestic productions, like CTV's Degrassi: The Next Generation and the CBC series Little Mosque on the Prairie, but non-Canadian shows, like South......

Lush" src="http://www.torontoist.com/attachments/toronto_marcl/taraspencernairn.jpg" width="640" height="340"> Corner Gas may not be everybody's cup of Ruby coffee, but we've always been big fans of Tara Spencer-Nairn, better known to Canadians these days as Officer Karen Pelly. Though "Karen" has a large stable of drooling fans with cop kinks, the spring issue of Lush brings us Spencer-Nairn out of uniform and as fashion-hot as a smoking Glock 22. David Suzuki, Green Avenger and Captain of Awesome, says that Torontonians have the right to know what pollutants are in the air we're breathing. 75% of the industrial pollution in our urban air is not being disclosed to the public! Save us, Suzuki! Air Canada is no longer flying to India, a move which business leaders around the city say will harm Indo-Canadian business relationships. Services to India were cancelled to boost service to......

You can't throw a brick without hitting a blogger who has an opinion on CBC's new show, Little Mosque On the Prairie. Previous to tonight's premiere episode, Torontoist's sole opinion on Little Mosque was that it made a great excuse for the CBC to give away lots of shawarma. (In the presence of camels, of course. Because you can't spell "shawarma" without "camels.") Of course, the media shitstorm that's been building up to the......

In order to promote their new show, Little Mosque On The Prairie, the CBC organized what they called "the World's Biggest Halal Shawarma Sandwich" -- a 300-pound shawarma, right in the middle of Dundas Square. Torontoist loves good street threatre and it loves free food, and this provided both, so why not go? Heck, there were camels and everything. Nothing says "entertainment" like camels!......

Hungry Torontonians are no stranger to shawarma. Simply a rotating column of chicken, beef or lamb, it is arguably the best food import from the Middle East since domesticated wheat (and that's a good 5000 years!). To celebrate the premier of their new comedy, Little Mosque on the Prairie, CBC is serving up "The World's Largest Halal Chicken Shawarma" in Yonge and Dundas Square on Thursday, January 4 after a press meeting with the......
