Somehow, the world of -ists managed to make it through the week despite news that Jen & Vince broke up.
Antifiti* rebel Xoro* was out in full force in the West end last week, marking any sign that might be interpreted as commercial advertising with an easily removable green painter's tape X. Many locals have expressed appreciation of the universal appeal of the X as well as the general sentiment of sticking it to outdoor ads. This Torontoist has also been noticing a side-effect of the gesture: most of these ads are so predictably located, we don't even notice them anymore, but Now With Green Xes!, we've actually been reading the ads. Reverse psychology or unintended consequence? Only the X knows.
This weekend you've got two big to-do's vying for your attention - on the mainland, Pride Toronto wraps up a week of festivities with party after party and loads of live music. Fab Magazine, the free gay monthly with the David Miller-in-tight-leather cover last year, has started a massive postcard campaign with a same-sex marriage message to our federal MP's. One card thanks Paul "promise made promise kept" Martin with a hunky thumbs up, and the other has the ever-disparaging middle digit for Steve "notwithstanding" Harper.
