Rosie DiManno sucks. Every day (or so), poor Toronto Star readers are subjected to another over-the-top, awkwardly-written, occasionally-insulting column about the day's top depressing story from the purple-streaked purveyor of pulp. It's about time someone took out the trash.

In this column in Saturday’s Globe, our girl Leah McLaren takes Paris, Lindsay, and Nicole to task for their crimes. No, silly! Not their DUI's—she's talking about their sartorial offences! Taking a page (or two, or three) from the Fug Girls’ book, Leah catalogues the celebs’ offences one by one.

Have you checked out the officially unveiled ROM Crystal yet? Some cool dudes like David Foster, Deborah Cox, Jann Arden, K'naan, Natalie McMaster, David Suzuki and Governor General Michaëlle Jean [AND CLAY AIKEN!!!—Ed.] were on scene for the dedication.

Meteorologists predict that this summer will be a scorcher, with temperatures in the 30-degree range for most of August. Don't worry, it won't be as hot as the summer of 2005. And sadly, it won't be as groovy as the summer of 1967.

We love Word on the Street but we always find there's way too much to do. So we've scoured the WOTS program and picked out the three things that you should try to hit up this Sunday at Queen's Park. Best of all, the whole event is free.

Katrina Onstad and Leah McLaren aren't the only female Toronto journalists penning autobiographically inspired works of literature. The insightful Lynn Crosbie is releasing her much anticipated new book Liar. Excerpts that Torontoist has read left us thinking about our own failed relationships, on the nature of love, betrayal and the cruelties that men and women inflict on each other. Perfect when you're sick and tired of watching cheesy rom-coms. The inspiration for this heavy new work is apparently a fellow poet and editor who Torontoist thinks might have a hard time getting dates in the next few years.

We think the Toronto mediasphere is wayyy to civilized and friendly. Anyone who follows media blogs in places like NYC or London know that there's constant back-biting, rivalries, jealousies and cattiness. Petty, some would say but entertaining to many many more.

Queen or Leah McLaren? Tonight, McLaren will be sharing the stage at the Gladstone with Katrina Onstad. Canada AM's Seamus O'Regan might want to wear a black and white ref's jersey just in case a fight breaks out between the two of them, seeing how Onstad makes not so veiled insults at McLaren in her new book.

, has very little syrup for the pancakes, so to speak.

weighs in on why these media types should stick to what they know.

Fired Globe and Mail columnist and avid bicyclist David Macfarlane’s new play Fishwrap (previously discussed on Torontoist here), which is about a "fictional" newspaper columnist and avid bicyclist who gets fired, opens in previews tonight at the Tarragon. According to eye’s on-the-ball theatre scribe Gord McLaughlin, the show includes a few not-so-subtle digs at Globe booster-in-chief Edward Greenspon and "that column by that awfully pretty young woman who writes about being an awfully pretty young woman." (Speaking of, Torontoist’s great Leah McLaren debate from last week continues over here.)
