Tuesday's enormous storm was not without shitty consequences. Around Sunnyside Beach, the hard and fast rainfall caused a storm sewer to overflow, spilling sewage and rainwater onto the beach, flooding the park and grass, pushing up the boardwalk, and forcing the city to close the beach and nearby Sunnyside Gus-Ryder Pool. While the beach is still closed as the city makes sure things are safe, parents are back to dropping the kids off at the pool—it's been back open since yesterday. Photographer Christopher Drost beautifully documented the aftermath, and his photos are above.

At their crudest, graffiti tags are generally used for the artist’s personal aggrandizement. While it is not uncommon for graffitists to tag the names legendary celebrities (Tupac anyone?) much more rare is the tagger who promotes the work of classical composers posthumously.

Yesterday saw clear skies above Toronto but thick fog hanging low to the ground. This was taken from the Bathurst Street bridge looking west, with the fog swallowing the condos along Lake Shore Blvd. More images after the jump.

A partially demolished building at Lake Shore and Bathurst makes way for another condo development.

A morning crash has closed off a Gardiner exit ramp and yesterday's burst water main repairs continue to block motorists. Workers will be reconstructing Lake Shore Boulevard over the next 24 hours. Burst water mains will be around for awhile: Toronto has one of the highest failure rates for water mains in Canada. Toronto's backlog of repairs to the system will take about 8 years to flush out.
