The final lineup for the benefit concert for the O'Keefe family has been announced. Organized by Andrew Copland—John O'Keefe's close friend and the Duke of Gloucester's head bartender—the concert aims both to honour John O'Keefe, who was killed walking home from the bar a month and a half ago, and to raise money for an education fund for John's son, Iain. This Sunday, March 2, the Mod Club will host a mix of Toronto......

It's been a little over a month since John O'Keefe was killed outside the Brass Rail, walking to the subway from the Duke of Gloucester. While the makeshift memorial outside the Rail is gone now, the man it was for is far from forgotten––by friends, family, or city. Many of the stories about O'Keefe have told of a dedicated, loving father; indeed, the reason why he left the Duke of Gloucester early––a friend wanted him......

Even on a street as gaudy, inconsistent, and ugly as Yonge, the Brass Rail has always felt out of place. A project to keep it from eroding will cost around $14 million, thus reminding us all once again that attempting to combat the effects of Mother Nature is a horribly costly experience, as anybody who has ever bought a jar of Oil of Olay knows full well. Golden Globes without writers turn out to be massively boring. Number of people surprised by this: zero. In revenge......

Has Torontoist used this title before? We honestly can’t remember, but it’s an easy (if lazy) joke to make about the Toronto International Film Festival Group’s International Film Festival for Children, Sprockets, which is running from tonight until April 30th. [edit: Turns out that, apparently, the Globe and Mail have used the same joke. Oh man! Does this happen every year? We promise it's the last time.] So let’s start at the beginning, with tonight’s......

Durham MPP John O'Toole's pet cause seems to be banning cellphones while driving. It's the third time he's tried to get Queen's Park to pass a ban and this time he's been spurred on by the recent death of the mom who allegedly was on her phone when her car fell into a canal over the weekend. It seems like a no-brainer. Dozens of countries, such as the UK and many other jurisdictions have cellphone......
