THEATRE: This evening, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre is presenting Electro-Alice: Adventures in the Underground. A new techno-opera by Torontonian Noah Henne, Electro-Alice explores what would happen if Alice had taken a bunch of MDMA before proceeding down the rabbit hole. The Facebook event describes it as "an experimental-techno-opera-costume-ball-acid-trip-mind-fucking-spiritual-dance-party for the 21st century." 2008 Toronto Drag Idol winner Daytona Bitch stars as Alice. Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander Street), 10 p.m., $10. FESTIVAL:......

On Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9:00, Toronto media superstar Sook-Yin Lee will be in attendance at the Royal's screenings of John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus, the Cannes and TIFF hit (applauded by Eye Weekly's Jason Anderson as "Manhattan with money shots") in which she stars as a New York couples counselor on a quest for her first orgasm. Fairly big news in the world of TIFF today with the announcement of a new programme, Vanguard. The first word of the press release is "edgy" which we kind of wish they’d spelt with a 3, considering the new programme is "fearless" and features "a raw, pulsating aesthetic that speaks to sexual, cultural and cinematic freedoms". Whoa! If I want sexual freedom in the cinema I’ll go to the Metro! To be honest, we’re not......

Tommy: What is that? Hedwig: It's what I have to work with. Torontoist finds it interesting that an established play would be considered on the 'fringes.' But at the same time, this is Hedwig... and how long can a play about a Barbie doll crotched rocker really stay near the mainstream? Regardless, John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's epic works rather well in this production. The concert (it's more concert than 'play') retains its......
