We managed to see Cloverfield a few weeks ago, and with the release of Diary of the Dead (above) this week, we have to say it's rather timely to discuss our opinion of it. As tired as this quote is, there's really no better way to describe Cloverfield than to take from Macbeth's famous soliloquy: "Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Feeling “Christmassy” yet? We aren’t either (we've just assumed you weren’t, apologies if you are, or something), and there isn’t that much on at the cinema yet to start ramping up the festive joy. It’s a Wonderful Life is showing at the Fox starting tomorrow and Bad Santa is going to be on at the Revue this Wednesday. To be completely honest, if you’re going to check out anything at those cinemas, we recommend you go and see King of Kong (which we talked up last week) when it’s on. The Fox is showing This is England, too. Not Christmassy at all, but fantastic.

Last night's star-studded 17th Annual Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP Awards brought prestigious wins for local play 'Da Kink In My Hair and playwright trey anthony. The play started as a one-woman Fringe Festival production and enjoyed multiple sold-out runs in Toronto until expanded by the Mirvishes at the Princess of Wales Theatre last year.

Last year, Mirvish Productions took an intriguing chance on actor/playwright trey anthony's "'da Kink in my Hair", with little evidence that a production about Black women's experiences would have wide commercial appeal. Tickets at the Princess of Wales theatre often sold-out and anthony [capitalization sic] would see 'da Kink get extended multiple times.

Torontoist is telling you to ignore the confusing name for this event and instead focus on the fact that it looks like it'll be a fun and fashionable evening. The Terminus 1525 sponsored I Am A Wild Party is being held at the Toronto Free Gallery tomorrow night which pretty much guarantees that it'll be fun.

This February 14th is in the running for the most depressing day of the year. The gloomy weather, the TTC fair hike, U2's performance at the Grammys and the fact that it's a Monday all add up to one sad day.
