We love The Patterns Trilogy. If we had more parties at our apartment, we’d have it running on our television or projected onto a wall, looping endlessly. Well, if we could be sure it wouldn’t hypnotize our guests (and ourselves) into a sublime stupefaction. Therefore, Trilogy of Trilogies, one of tonight’s Worldwide Short Film Festival programmes (playing at 7:15 p.m. at the Cumberland), which features The Patterns Trilogy along with The Saskatchewan Trilogy, is our specially designated hot ticket of the week. It’s a ticket so hot, if you put it in your trouser pocket, it would set your trousers on fire and you’d get really bad burns on your legs.

Hey fan boys and girls! Are you still gushing over comic book legend Stan Lee’s cameo on last Monday's episode of Heroes (pictured left)? Well get ready to get giddy again. Lee will be appearing at an autograph session this afternoon at HMV (5:30 – 6:30 at 272 Queen St. W.).

Instead, we're cautiously optimistic about another ensemble movie (how do the characters' lives always intersect so neatly? Why is the policeman connected to the kneebone connected to the anklebone?), Chris Terrio's Heights, which revolves around the complicated lives of a bunch of intersecting New Yorkers. And Glenn Close stars as a grand dame of the theatre. The Globe find it a bit snoring, but we'll leave that for you to decide.
