Have you entered our Hot Rod competition yet, readers? It's still running. You probably should enter, as it’s the most exciting film you could see this week, in our humble opinion. We really like Andy Samberg, you see. It’s so rarely worth struggling through an episode of Saturday Night Live just to see him (he’s so often wasted) but Hot Rod could be good! It really could!

When it launched in April of 2003 by real estate developer Christopher Bratty, Toronto-based men's magazine Toro was a critical darling. The glossy won two Folio Awards for design almost immediately, followed with four National Magazine Awards in 2004 (48 NMA nominations in total), then accolades for investigative journalism and fashion photography.

Well, not even a week until the Film Festival is left, and frankly, Torontoist is ever so slightly… No, scratch that, we’re utterly crapping our pants over the enormity of trying to cover the world’s largest film festival. We’re only little!

If this green arrow were real it would crush several hundred teenie boppers and a few dozen talentless musicians on Sunday. Sadly, it's not real. What is very real is the Much Music Video Awards and the resulting noise from screaming adoring fans and traffic confusion from out-of-towners who forgot that MuchMusic actually occupies real space and once a year holds a large award ceremony.

Everything is Illuminated: Surprisingly good adaptation from Henry V (Liev Shrieber) of J Safran Foer's magical novel. The decision to drop the surreal bits works out, and Eugene Hutz (of the Balkan punk band Gogol Bordello) is terrific as the malapropist Alexander Perchov. But go for the soundtrack which features Hutz' Gogol Bordello, The terrific Balkan Brass band Kocani Orkestar, Tin Hat Trio and guitar work by the amazing Marc Ribot.

Between the screaming thirteen year olds and the creepy older men, Torontoist somehow managed to grab a front row ticket to the Live at Much House of Wax "special red carpet edition."

If you haven't seen the commercial where Paris promises it's gonna be HOTT in Toronto tonight....heads up on Queen Street tonight boys, cause Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert are in town to promote their highly anticipated screaming-chick-horror-flick House of Wax.
