Say good-bye to your mushy Macs, tart Grannies, foreign Fujis, and sweet Ladies, and say hello to your new favourite apple, the Honeycrisp. Known to aficionados as one of the sweetest and crispest apples around, the Honeycrisp is just starting to make its seasonal appearance at farmers' markets and better fruit boutiques throughout the city.

So we were on the TTC yesterday afternoon, eating cold leftover pasta and leafing through the Globe, when we came across this conversation between Sarah Hampson, Beppi Crosariol and Sue Riedl about the etiquette of public eating. Read it yourself if you like, but we’ve gone to the trouble of summarizing the highlights. Apparently there are "unspoken rules" about eating in public (they’re unspoken, and yet, Hampson notes, "no one ever talks about them." Curious.) One rule, for example, is that it's okay to eat spaghetti in public, but only if your Tupperware "isn’t transparent." Oops.

This week Torontoist decided to work out for itself exactly when The Simpsons was good. Because it’s just been so long, so depressingly long, since we’ve seen a episode that didn’t make us want to open a vein. Seriously. Using the powers of science (well, Wikipedia) we’ve decided it was good between seasons three and ten, peaking in (roughly) season seven.
