WORDS: Michele Landsberg has a reputation for stirring up shit. She is also an officer of the Order of Canada, has won the Governor-General's award, is a best-selling author, has been a long-time columnist for The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail, and is an endless activist for social justice around the issues of feminism and the rights of women (and occasionally men). She'll be sitting down for a conversation with Ralph Benmergui as part of the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company's Conversations on the Green series to discuss how Jewish culture has influenced her work. St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, Jane Mallet Theatre (27 Front Street East), 7:30 p.m., $15.

Torontoist is ending the year by naming our Heroes and Villains of 2008--the people, places, and things that we've either fallen head over heels in love with or developed uncontrollable rage towards over the past twelve months, with one hero and one villain selected by each participating staff member. On Christmas Day: the heroes. On Boxing Day: the villains. And next week, cast your vote to determine the Superhero and Supervillain of the year.
