Torontonians' reputation—both across the country and at home—as being unfriendly is undeserved. Most of us really do try to be helpful, even when we're venting our rage and writing up our best passive-aggressive notes. Take this latest volley in the eternal battle between lawn-loving gardeners and inconsiderate dog owners (which, it should be noted, are a tiny minority). Sure, this East York homeowner left a none-too-subtle note to the culprit who didn't pick up......

Happy Canada Day! There is lots of stuff going on around town, including fireworks tonight at Ashbridges Bay, Ontario Place, Downsview Park, and Mel Lastman Square, where Mel Lastman will be fired into space on a giant skyrocket. Delta Kappa Epsilon officials expressed shock after a drug bust at a chapter of the fraternity in Toronto. Police seized $126,000 worth of illegal drugs at the Alpha Phi Crack House near U of T. With Woofstock having just come to town, why not think about adopting an animal? The Toronto Humane Society just opened a satellite adoption centre in North York (2802 Victoria Park Avenue between Finch and Sheppard) to make adoption easier in addition to its original Toronto location at 11 River Street (at Queen Street East). Check out the gallery below for photos of jumping, splashing, dressed-up,......

Is your dog scratching up the door, whining like a leaky squeaky toy, and in general acting uncommonly agitated? If so, better free up your calendar because chances are she knows that Woofstock is coming to town this weekend (alternatively, she's sensing an imminent earthquake, in which case just fill the bathtub with water and crouch under a table). Woofstock has been around since 2003, when the Toronto Star dubbed it "the summer of canine......

Those who frequent the strip of downtown parkettes stretching from Dundonald to Charles Streets have been wondering what happened to the mysterious monument to "Barney." In autumn, the memorial stone went missing after having been damaged, but has now been reinstated onto its concrete base just off Gloucester Street in the Norman Jewison Parkette. But what's the story behind this odd little commemoration? It's actually a drinking fountain for dogs—not a grave marker—and was......

Over at blogTO, a reader's unbearably cute dog (above) has gone missing. We like cute puppies (who doesn't?), so we thought we'd help in the search. Details follow. Missing puppy in the Queen/Strachan area goes by the name Dignan or Digs. He is German Shephard/Lab mix, black with tan markings, and cute lil eyebrows. The pooch is only 7 months old and has never been on his own before. Naturally, responds well to treats......
