Many artists will agree that the creative effort is as important as the final presentation. With this in mind, Noah Mintz (formerly of hHead; presently of Noah’s Arkweld and Mastering Engineer at Lacquer Channel) and Aniko (Creative Director of The Spa Suite at the Gladstone Hotel) have organized an event that foregrounds the often collaborative, spontaneous process of artistic creation: "In an industry where we all get plenty of opportunity to celebrate the finished product of music, we thought it was time to draw attention to the pieces, the building blocks – the background of it all."

Last week, Matthew Blackett quietly announced that his comic m@b would be taking an early retirement after four years of syndication in Eye Weekly. "I'm still happy with m@b", he writes, "[but] I've lost the energy to think about it. The spark of inspiration of when I saw someone do something insane, or say something off-kilter, has dulled and rarely goes off these days. I'd rather play Tetris on my cell phone that try to eaves-drop on the people in sitting in front of me on the streetcar." The comic's final appearance is slated for Thursday, March 29.

When it launched in April of 2003 by real estate developer Christopher Bratty, Toronto-based men's magazine Toro was a critical darling. The glossy won two Folio Awards for design almost immediately, followed with four National Magazine Awards in 2004 (48 NMA nominations in total), then accolades for investigative journalism and fashion photography.
