The Allan Gardens Conservatory, situated on the quaintly named Horticultural Avenue (at Carlton between Jarvis and Sherbourne), is a surprising oasis in the middle of a desert of asphalt and high-rises. Until January 1st, the Conservatory is host to the Christmas Flower Show 2006, where visitors can stroll through a sea of poinsettias and check out a Rudolph fashioned out of plants. A Christmas soundtrack is piped throughout the connected greenhouses, and if you go during the special evening hours between 5 and 7pm from now until the 23rd, and the 26th to the 30th, you get the added bonus of browsing by candlelight.

The Toronto Lynx have their work cut out for them if they are planning on contending in the USL’s First Division this season. After starting the year with six consecutive road games, the Lynx return to Centennial Park this Sunday after only managing a pair of ties so far. With their next three games here in T.O, it is crucial that they start off on the right foot this weekend... Whichever foot that may be. Unfortunately, this may prove a tough task as they are facing an unbeaten Montreal side, which has looked extremely strong to this point. Coach Herbert Busby Junior’s side has had trouble finding the goal so far this year. They will be counting on striker Ali Gerba to start converting a few more of his opportunities as they look for him to duplicate last year’s production.
