Not only is the Canadian International Air Show a spectacular demonstration of piloting skills, it's also a lesson in aviation history. Many of the aircraft have been lovingly restored and refurbished, alluding to their heydays of technology, conflict, and design. Here, stunt planes and vintage fighters sit quietly at the City Centre (Billy Bishop?) Airport yesterday evening as they await this weekend's showcase.

The TTC has announced that staff is recommending Bombardier—over Siemens—to manufacture more than two hundred new low-floor light rail vehicles, due to roll out across Toronto's existing streetcar network starting in 2012 (for "passenger service," after a prototype arrives in 2011), at a cost of $1.22 billion.

The TTC is looking at eliminating the free parking spaces allotted to Metropass holders at the 16 lots they own around the city. TTC Chair Adam Giambrone contended that the free spaces were costing the TTC more money than they brought in, which sounds like a valid argument until you remember that parking spots, like guns, are a God-given right.
