Look out! Here comes David Lynch, man!

OMG! This week sees the release of Kickin' It Old Skool, a Jamie Kennedy vehicle. He plays a breakdancer who awakes from a 20-year coma and something that Jamie Kennedy probably considers hilarity ensues. We here at Torontoist Towers are astounded at the idea that somebody greenlighted a film with Jamie Kennedy in it. Absoultely gob-smacked.

After what feels like a surprisingly long gap of film festivals in the city, they’re back, with The Prisoner Justice Film Festival now running and Ozflix starting tonight with screenings of Ten Canoes and 2:37; We pretty much hated 2:37, though (but we’ve heard good things about Ten Canoes). Full details can be found at their respective websites.

Now, although we’re siding with the After Dark Film Festival, there’s entirely the possibility that, you know, you’re a big scaredy-poo-pants and don’t fancy anything there.

So, did anyone see the article in today’s Eye about the imminent death of the Festival cinemas? A nice article reminding us that it’ll take someone with a good deal more money than business sense to save the Royal (at a cool $2.7 million) but it more timely in reminding us that while our cinemas might be dying, we at least still have the Toronto International Film Festival Group’s Cinematheque Ontario to keep us in going. It might be in the Jackman Hall at the Art Gallery of Ontario (317 Dundas West), admittedly not the most exciting of venues, but it might soon be one of our only choices to see some rarely shown films on the big screen.
