A few nights ago, I was walking up Yonge Street in the rain as I passed by the Panasonic Theatre buzzing with its eerie Blue (Man) glow. As uneasy as it may have felt, the Blue Men reminds me of analyst/therapist Tobias Fünke so I laughed and laughed... until I stopped.

As you may already know, Toronto is hosting the 2006 International AIDS Conference in August. While you may want to take a vacation during this important conference... those of you still in the city can enjoy a star studded concert with a veritable cornucopia of CanCon to keep your interest.

Protesters are urging patrons to boycott Toronto's Blue Man Group show for refusing to work with the city's four theatre unions. Anywhere from 100-400 protesters (depending on who you read) gathered at the Panasonic Theatre on Sunday night to thwart the anti-union Blue Men in their opening show. Included in the protest was parliamentary voice of reason Jack Layton.

. TOist understand the unions' gripes, but we cannot condone any unionization process that would inhibit amusing weirdos and amateur thespians from painting themselves blue and banging on PVC pipes in front of a choreographer. Still and all, TOist JKelly gets good quote and makes us see why the Blue Men have ruffled more than a few theatrical feathers.
