Each week, Torontoist shows off the most interesting, creative, and cool submissions to our Torontoist Flickr Pool. The Trinity-Spadina Make Poverty History group is helping jump-start discussion about the issue of child poverty by holding an All-Candidates' Meeting to discuss child poverty issues. All four provincial parties are going to be represented by their respective candidates from the riding, who will be able to talk about their plans to eliminate child poverty in Toronto and beyond. The meeting is being held tomorrow (September 19) at 7:00 p.m. at the Factory Theatre......

Thinking of getting a tattoo? Great idea! (Unless you’re thinking of getting a Chinese character and you’re not Chinese. In that case, please don’t. First, you will look like a walking cliché. Second, you will probably end up with something like “horse penis” when you meant to get “passion and love.” Kind of like these people.) As fun as tattoos are though, they’re also not a decision to be taken lightly. An excellent place......

It is nearly time for our third annual urban Easter Egg hunt, which marks the two year anniversary of Newmindspace. Early Sunday morning, dozens of nocturnal bunnies will hide eggs filled with hand-written messages of joy in nooks and crannies of all kinds. A few hours later, even littler bunnies will scramble around the 'hood looking for them. By popular demand, this year's hunt takes place on Bloor St. W between Yonge St. and......

Everyone reports on the eight men found murdered outside a rural Ontario town yesterday. The eight men were believed to be from the GTA. Fingers point to a feud between the Bandidos and Hell's Angels, although the Hell's Angels are saying they don't have anything to do with it. The Star reports on a police raid on a farmhouse and the Globe gives us this nice little context piece on biker gangs in Canada. U......

T.J. Dawe all sold out? Too hot to brave the notoriously AC-free Glen Morris? Or maybe you just have a peckish hour to kill between shows? If your Fringing is confined to the central axis of Bloor and Brunswick (the Tranzac, aka Fringe HQ; Poor Alex; Royal St. George’s; and several BYOVs), it’s impossible to walk three feet without falling mouth first into good eats, but patrons of slightly farther flung venues might occasionally feel......

Torontoist reader Janos points us to the irony of talking about great DVD's in the wake of so much tragedy. And indeed, as the numbers swell, and the destruction becomes more evident, TOist has been struck by the horror of it all. Yesterday, we debated whether Canada was doing enough, over a delicious tortiere, and the richness of it made us feel fortunate beyond belief. Canada has pledged over $4 million in aid, but how......

Today the Municipal Roads Coalition singled out the worst roads in Ontario for 2004. The results were based on public votes and follow-up inspections. The unscientific survey found that most voters in Toronto were hating on Bathurst St., with Steeles Ave. not far behind. Here is the top ten list for the province: 1. Albert St., Township of Norwich, Oxford County 2. Paris St., City of Sudbury 3. Bathurst St., City of Toronto 4. Municipal......
