The year is winding down and so is the music, which is kind of nice, actually, because there seem to be a lot of tours already gearing up for 2007. Hopefully Alexisonfire isn't one of them...we have no idea how they can manage to go onstage and scream for 7 solid days (they have a few more shows this week). Insanity. Best bets for this week include Royal Wood tonight at the Cameron House......

As the weeks draw closer to the holidays, we're seeing less and less shows listed -- which really sucks, because one can only take so much Christmas music...and we've already heard enough of it to drive us insane. Yeah, yeah, bah humbug. That said, it's quite possible we'll be checking out Twisted Sister's 'A Twisted Christmas' tomorrow. The vision of Dee Snider in full makeup and crazy hair, possibly wearing a Santa suit and......

Another busy week in the city. Ridiculously busy. Once again, there's something decent to check out every night. We'll be hitting The Decemberists, Imogen Heap, Shout Out Out Out Out (out out out), and possibly a few more. Perhaps even Skid Row (minus Bach). What?! As if you don't miss those power ballads of the 80s! Oh, and it looks like Justin Timberlake is bringing 'sexy back' to Toronto in January. The price? Up......

Everyone recovered from V-Fest yet? No? What's wrong with you? Better take your vitamins and Red Bull then, because there's a lot going on this week. Notably, Ms. Emily Haines will be playing four (that's right, 4!) shows in a span of three days (incl. V-Fest), so if you think you're tired... If this isn't enough music for one week and you know of other shows, as always, we want to hear about it......

Recently Announced Aug. 12 – OXFAM Music 4 Change Fundraiser feat. The Diableros, The Coast, These Electric Lives......

It was a lean, mean and ruthlessly efficient Pixies that opened up a two-night stand at Arrow Hall last night - okay, maybe Frank Black Francis wasn't quite so lean. A long time coming – more than seven months since the shows were announced and tickets went on sale – the sold-out crowd of 9,000 composed of equal parts present-day indie kids and aged hipsters was pretty damned anxious by the time their heroes finally......

After the current retro 80's fad dies down, Torontoist believes the next hype decade will naturally be the 90's. But for everyone to start wearing flannel and be nostalgic for Mudhoney and Candlebox, those bands have to first stop touring. This week Toronto welcomes two such alt-rock holdovers in Frank Black and the Pixies and Slash in his G'n'R type-band Velvet Revolver. Even though Black Francis is overweight and bald, and Slash can no longer......
