Been looking for a way to gain fame and fortune by exploiting your kid's intelligence? Here's your chance: this Friday is the Toronto casting call for kids to be on Are You Smarter Than a Canadian 5th Grader, the Canadian version of Fox's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (in case you couldn't tell). Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at The Fairmont Royal York at 100 Front Street West. You can download the application here. But be warned: this stuff's harder than it sounds. We may or may not have just taken the online quiz, and may or may not have gotten half the questions wrong. Not a big deal.

Nelly Boy is the story of of Nelson/Nelly, a genderqueer teen being interrogated by a mysterious man after a series of events that occurred at a shopping mall. The play is written by the talented Dave Deveau (pictured) who h-core fans will remember from his days on the sweet 90s spooky anthology series Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Spring launch season slows this week, but finishes strongly with new poetry collections by national treasures bill bissett and David McFadden. Tomorrow night, help David celebrate his Selected Poems: Why Are You So Sad?, edited and introduced by Stuart Ross. Here’s Stuart, from the intro:

80's pop-rockers INXS are looking to Toronto for a new lead singer. Famous for their inspiring hit single "Beds are Burning" and recent blockbuster "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?", the Austrailian band will hold public auditions for a new vocalist in Toronto - eight years after their original lead singer Michael Hutchence committed suicide.
