"What's The Frequency, Campus?" highlights some of the intriguing shows and special programming happening on Toronto's campus and community radio stations.
Daniel Handler! In Toronto! You may know him better as children’s writer Lemony Snicket of A Series of Unfortunate Events fame, but he has written three books for adults not as Snicket's "Handler," but quite wonderfully as himself. He'll be talking to charming local writer Jason McBride (who Torontoist may have seen in The Annex last week--belated hullo, Jason! If you weren’t Jason, greetings to the gent who is passing himself off as Jason quite successfully).
For three months next year, the Art Gallery of Ontario will surpass Andy Poolhall as the best place to see Andy Warhol images in the city. The AGO will recieve famous Warol prints , including Ms Monroe's, for a July - October exhibit in 2006. If you're not familiar with a Warhol painting or print, then that's a little weird. (Also, the AGO is FREE every Wednesday night between 6-9pm...just in case you forget between now and next July.)
Brit-pop has officially become a legitimate cultural subset in Toronto. The Anglo-affectionate crowd already has several successful music nights (Dance Cave, Labyrinth Lounge, or anything involving DJ Mark Holmes), clothing stores (FCUK, Vespa, anywhere that sells Ben Sherman), and now a publication.
