Torontoist would like to self-select himself to be the Joan Rivers of the Untitled Art Awards. TUAA is arguably the city's best known visual arts award and judging from the nominees list a good chunk of the city's visual arts elite should be showing up. Last year's show had the Mayor eating an improvised meal to avant-garde jazz, acceptance speeches and beer, it was held at a brewery. What TUAA is missing is red......

The Toronto International Art Fair is just plain weird. People pay $16 to look at art in a dimly lit basement in the bowels of the Metro Convention Centre. Everybody looks a bit sallow, and time seems to stand still as you troll through the endless booths of $10,000 masterpieces. At 5 pm each day, Canadian Art editor Richard Rhodes gives a short talk and introduces an artist and his work, and, having missed......

Two major art fairs in town this week mean that it'll be hard to wander around Toronto without hitting an artist, critic, art dealer, patron or hanger on of some sort. Freshly-plugged in today's Star the blaugerista is open for business, but not in Parkdale, or West Queen West, where such fancy terminology is highly discouraged.......

What a neat idea, and one that we're only catching onto on this, its third, go round. A weekend conversion of alleyways to art spaces, courtesy of AlleyJaunt. All this weekend alleys along the edges of Trinity Bellwoods Park will be "transformed into art exhibits, installations, performance, and film/video venues." Forty artists will be exhibiting their wares, and Sunday evening will feature a 9 pm screening of short films and videos. Heaquarters are at......

The Instant Coffee Artist Collective knows how to throw a party. Some of their past initiatives have included make out parties (complete with a blanket fort perfect for snogging) and the urban disco trailer (a converted trailer fitted with huge speakers and a queen size bed). They’ve also organized exhibits of up and coming Toronto artists all over North America and further abroad. Between all this dancing, drinking and making out, IC managed to......
