Toronto police chief says it's not right to scare the public by suggesting spending cuts to the police force. Also, the garbage commissioner says it's not right to scare the public by suggesting spending cuts to public sanitation and the head of Parks and Rec says it's not right to scare the public by suggesting spending cuts to public lawnmowing.

An anonymous source inside Queen's Park told us earlier today that Aileen Siu—she of the "ghetto dude"–calling fame—has, as of this past Monday, resigned. No details at this time (or, likely, ever) as to whether she did so voluntarily or because she was asked to, but at least this mess is over. Now, hopefully, both she and Evon Reid can move on with their lives. What Siu said was stupid, but she's paid for it, first with her reputation and now with her job.

For some of us, Tuesdays can only mean one thing. Yes, "Family and Relationships" day over at Globe Life, the Globe's lifestyle section that was introduced in the April redesign. But it seems like they’re having some trouble finding material, because yesterday’s Globe Life section featured not one, but two pieces on what to do when you accidentally offend a colleague, either by mistakenly hitting "Reply" instead of "Forward" (à la Aileen Siu), or by talking shmack about a co-worker’s Scientology beliefs while he’s standing right behind you. Besides the fact that these are essentially the same article, shouldn’t they be filed under "Workplace," which is Monday’s theme?

The Star reports this morning about U of T political science student Evon Reid (pictured). Reid applied for a job at Queen's Park as a media analyst earlier this month and was waiting to hear back when an e-mail from Aileen Siu, a part-time contract employee (whose contract is probably about to end prematurely), landed in his inbox on Friday morning. Siu's e-mail simply read: "This is the ghetto dude that I spoke to before."
