Historicist: One Fine Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Day in Toronto

Attention drivers intending to head out of the city for a relaxing weekend drive: if a bill before the Ontario legislature is passed, you may have to keep your brand new Model T off country roads on Saturdays and Sundays. According to The Star, "the two days selected were picked on as Saturday is market day, when the country roads are very busy with farmers' conveyances, and Sunday was chosen as the 'day of rest.'" Fear not drivers, as the proposed law does not apply to urban areas and "the bill is so drastic that it is hardly probable it will pass the House."

We hate to burst your bubble, but there's a good chance that the government of Australia hates Canada and all Canadians...especially you. This is, of course, nothing more than a wildly inappropriate and unverifiable allegation on our part, but we do have a bit of evidence to support our theory. You see, Australia's official position on Canada is that we're a dangerous country to visit.

You may know Sasha van Bon Bon as the author of Eye Weekly's sex advice column, "Love Bites," or maybe you've seen her perform with burlesque troupe The Scandelles. This Thursday, Sasha reveals yet another talent, as "The Continental Pasty," an exhibition of her handmade pasties, goes on display at Paul Petro Multiples + Small Works (962 Queen Street West).

You know who's going to be upset about those Bikini Bandits? The Houston school system. Houstonist also reports on some redevelopment shenanigans over a landmark theater.

There are a lot of great advice columns out there for people struggling with love, but none compare to “Dear Raymi.” “Dear Raymi,” found at Better Living Centre, gives unsolicited advice to people searching for answers from Rebecca Eckler’s “Advice to the Lovelorn” column from the National Post. Raymi, of Raymi the Minx (kind of sometimes NSFW), is one of Toronto’s most famous bloggers and has a keen sense of love, life, sex, and relationships. Yesterday’s post was the second time Raymi has written her “Dear Raymi” column. We can only hope BLC and Raymi keep this going for a long time. It’s blatantly honest and extremely funny. Have a read and enjoy.
