An avid traveler, Lindhout backpacked through Latin America, Laos, Bangladesh, India, Sudan, Syria, and Pakistan, and worked as a journalist in Afghanistan and Iraq before being kidnapped in Somalia and held captive for 460 days. A House in the Sky tells the story of a woman who used the power of memory and hope to overcome unimaginable suffering.
