The rare retrospective to get a victory lap soon after its first run, TIFF’s recent spotlight on the nineteen acclaimed films from Japan’s much-admired animation studio gets a second lease on life with Spirited Away: The Films of Studio Ghibli. A major hit with families when it showed at TIFF Bell Lightbox last spring, the retrospective returns with some key modifications, including a couple of prized screenings of 1988’s Grave of the Fireflies, which was unavailable for the last round.
For the past 12 years, the Doves of Hope Campaign has made it possible for the friends and family of patients fighting cancer to express their love and support. Each dove represents one unique person and the challenges they’ve faced. Each dove is also a symbol of solidarity, and sends a message of strength to all those whose lives have been affected by the disease.

On December 20, Santa and a gaggle of elves will travel to City Hall and deliver a heap of coal to Mayor of Toronto—and latest addition to the naughty list—Rob Ford.
This special delivery from St. Nick is the brainchild of Bob’s Your Uncle Agency, a local marketing firm. “We have never sent coal to anyone,” said agency CEO Robert K. Froese. “[But] this really did seem like a unique situation.”
