Rob Ford’s Escalade Impounded in Bracebridge

A 36-year-old woman has been charged with DUI after being pulled over while driving Ford's SUV.

Rob Ford drives his Escalade, apparently while reading, in this photo from 2012. Photo from Twitter user RyanGHaughton.

Rob Ford’s Cadillac Escalade has been impounded in Bracebridge following a drunk-driving incident that occurred at 2:30 p.m. today near Muskoka Road 169 and Butterfly Road. Only one person was in the vehicle at the time, and it wasn’t the mayor: the sole occupant, reports CP24, was 36-year-old Lee Anne McRobb. McRobb, who lives in the Muskoka region, reportedly met the mayor in rehab, and the two appear to be Facebook friends. She was not charged with stealing the vehicle. Asked by Moose FM how it was she got her hands on the SUV, she said, “That’s for me to know.”

Last Friday, Ford was spotted in Bracebridge, where he took photos with locals. His family cottage is in the area, as is the rehabilitation centre he reportedly checked into.

McRobb is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.

My gawd … I am loving this more than I should. But if loving salacious gossip about RoFo is wrong, I don’t wanna be right! #plentytoeatathomebutnotenoughtodrink

    • quidnunc

Hit me with a bag of McNuggets! We’re lovin it.

  • SAS

I would love to be the fly on the wall, when he tries to explain this 1 to his wife, was she a guest at the cottage?

    • EmmaDaoust

Either his wife doesn’t give a crap, or she’s too afraid to give a crap. She either married him for his money, or she married him for his money and is stuck in an abusive relationship. It’s the 2 kids that are completely screwed by all of this. Ford doesn’t give a crap about Toronto, nor his wife, and clearly not his kids. They will be something when they grow up.

    • bobloblawbloblawblah

If we go by his ;latest drunken rant that was caught on audio, Ford says something like “i’m getting divorced, I gotta sleep in a hotel”. Of course, he was impaired and hs does exaggerate but it seems to me his marriage is on pretty shaky ground. The guy spends a lot of time partying, how could it not be?

      • SAS

rumor has it she is suing for Divorce, and I hope full custody of those 2 children, and if this young Lady was a former attendee at the same rehab as he is at now, I guess they did not help her very much, and in even 8 weeks, he is not going to be cured, my brother has been drug and alcohol clean for over 10 years, and it is still a daily fight

      • TheSotSays

And there was Jack peacefully looking at the ceiling when a vice squad fire axe chopped his door down and ruined his Star Trek uniform. I’ll take Ford any day of the week over that.

    • TheSotSays

So you want to be a “fly on the wall” do you?

I think you’re aiming too high. An old Bolshevik lag like you is more likely to be the fly on the outhouse toilet seat, don’t you think?.

  • bobloblawbloblawblah

Fer the love of pete, can’t you stay out of the news for at least a week, Mayor Bobblehead?

    • dsmithhfx

Saw a new Rob Ford bobblehead on sale at the newstand this morning, with him clutching a bottle. The base had a “Frank” logo (magazine?)

      • bobloblawbloblawblah

Probably was Frank Magazine. I’ll bet there’s a Ford bobblehead with a crack pipe too.

        • dsmithhfx

          Yep. http://frankmag.ca/ford-bobble-belly/

I overheard the newstand guy say he was selling them for ~$15.00 (I think).

Is the Cadillac Escalade on a recall list?

Is the Rob Ford on a recall list?

    • quidnunc

Apparently the Rob Ford Escort is tho.

  • dannyR

Even his car can’t stay sober for one month.

Folks, there’s a simple explanation for this. Me, Dougie and Joe Warmington are workin’ on it right now, and it’s gonna be published in the Sun within the next 24 hours. Stay tuned.

P.S. I’m doin’ top notch in rehab. I got 10-11 more days to go until I’m completely cured. Lookin’ forward to gettin’ back to Toronto and kickin’ some butt.

Watch out, Chow and Tory! (I assume Stintz and Snockackni dropped out already?)

    • dannyR

Look, Rob. This woman was driving your car bombed, less than one week after she was released from this classy miracle $100K/month, dry-out emporium deluxe, and you think you can make it one day without blowing it?

      • http://www.thestar.com/news/insight/2014/05/09/rob_ford_one_wild_night_in_march.html Bumbaclot

I don’t throw my friends under the bus, so I got no comment on Lee Anne and her troubles. As for me, I made huge strides since I been in rehab, ask anyone, ask the famous athlete here, or the captain of industry. They’ll tell ya. You’re gonna see a new Rob Ford when I get back to T.O. No more booze, no more drugs, no more hangin’ out with gangbangers and drug dealers and own mother beaters. I promise, I promise, I promise. This time I really mean it.

        • dannyR

Oh noes! Not the fun guy everyone knows and loves anymore? Say it ain’t…

        • dsmithhfx

Bumbaclot, who does your dreads? Are they real, cause recent photos seem to show galloping alopecia (which, I understand is aggravated by lying)? Do you take JSL lessons?

  • VictorianShuter

♫ Let’s keep on this rehab charade / Let me take you in an Escalade ♫

    • quidnunc

NoRulesRobbie reigns! I’ll bet sis Kathy is impressed. Doug will have to explain it to us tomorrow. That, and how he got “rap sheets” on autistic kids..

  • dannyR

So this vehicle, according to the CBC, arrives at impound without plates, and the owners and cops say they never took them off.

    Man, that Lisi is fast.

    • quidnunc

OPP waiting for new evidence? Did they check the vehicle for bedbugs?

  • http://themagicfarawayttree.tumblr.com/ babybobbarker

Lol, the circus has moved to Muskoka.

  • setterdog

Folks, nothing to see here. And don’t you know folks that at the best rehab in the whole wide world you just naturally lend your car to your new Facebook and fellow rehab friend so that she can take it for a tour and have a few pops.

    • wklis

Except that Rob does not know how to use a computer, just his cellphone to make and receive phone calls (maybe voicemail). Anything on Facebook or Twitter would be done by some underling.

  • OgtheDim

Just surrounds himself with winners, does our mayor.

    • dsmithhfx

Wouldn’t you loan your Escalade to a fellow rehab inmate on a bender? You know, like ordinary folks do?

  • NO MORE FORD

And the insanity continues… even in ‘rehab’ Rob Ford manages to demonstrate incredibly poor judgement and choices… how is it possible that he is unable to JUST FOCUS ON REHAB FOR A MERE 30 DAYS !!!! Seriously… this man is still showing absolutely no credibility or effort to reform himself… let’s hope they keep the car and he’s stranded where ever he is now… obviously he’s making new friends and is happy!

    • mytwocentsworth

For someone like Rob Ford, to “focus on rehab for a mere 30 days” would seem like an eternity, if not an impossibility. He has never shown a knack for paying attention to matters more than a few minutes. For ten years, he didn’t read the Code of Conduct, which was probably too long and boring for him. He rarely spends a full day on the job, never came to council prepared while a councillor and his ‘speeches’ are always basic and lacking in content.

His restlessness is another sign of an attention deficit. While substance abuse may have been part of this focus problem, I suspect a learning disability played into it as well.

      • NO MORE FORD

You may be right.. the moment he became Mayor it was obvious he was in over his head… after all he didn’t finish school… only worked for Dad’s company… and as you say, never really put in a real day’s work in his life. It makes it even sadder that people continue to support him and consider he their ‘hero’. I wonder why that whole family is so screwed up… all the opportunities & money, yet none of the common sense, work ethic or character. Pathetic.,

        • nevilleross

This makes me wonder how this man ever got to become a city councilor in the first place

  • dannyR

Since the vehicle arrived at impound without plates, I assume Ford’s inner circle of enablers intend to wipe as much record as they can that Rob ever had anything to do with that car.

If I were Rob, I’d see that an identical model and color, even a used one of the same year, was delivered to the facility and refuse any future questions about the incident.

    • OgtheDim

VIN numbers kinda defeat that idea.

      • torontothegreat

Something only the owner or insurance company would have access to. Nobody could get those numbers to compare.

        • Notcleverguy

The city would have them, you need to produce a vin number to register a car.

        • Squintz

Also the VIN number is clearly displayed on the driver’s side dash. Not that difficult to match them up.

          • torontothegreat

What I’m saying is that the public would never know if it’s his vehicle or not, unless someone actually knows what the original VIN number is. I doubt the insurance company or police would offer it up.

          • Squintz

It is a professional reporter’s job to get that information from sources and it appears that they have confirmed it is Ford’s vehicle, so it’s a moot point.

          • torontothegreat

            I stand corrected! Thanks.

        • vampchick21

I would think the police would be able to access those numbers to match car to owner.

          • dannyR

Notice I said wipe as much record as they can; all of it’s impossible, but the Ford camp seems to be of the die-trying persuasion.

          • TheSotSays

I think you’re right. I once saw them over at 687 Dundas Street West writing down the VIN from Jack’s Volvo.

  • Notcleverguy

Ford is now a menace in cottage country. I guess no one told the folks up there that he and his drunken friends would be aloud outside. I feel bad for those who reside up there, Ford is ruining the neighborhood and property values are surely falling.

  • SonuvaScrimbro

Don’t forget to tune in for Joe Worthington’s next column, “IT WAS THE CADILLAC’S FAULT, SAYS FORD,” in which we find out the car that Ford trusted with all his heart violently betrayed him by letting someone else drive it behind Ford’s back. Here’s a sample:

    >> “I… I thought we had something special,” Ford sobbed into the phone, with the sounds of a rehab facility clearly in the background. “Me and that SUV, we’ve been through so much together. To find out it’s been letting other people drive it, it’s… I don’t have the words. First it was stalking me at the rehab centre where I’m trying so hard to get well, tempting me with rides into town when it knows I need to focus on being better — now it’s out on the town with some woman I don’t even know? And landing in jail without telling me? If I’m guilty of anything, it’s trusting my car too much.”

    • bobloblawbloblawblah

You just can’t trust those lefty, elitist Cadillac Escalades. They’ll turn on you eventually.

    • Notcleverguy

“Rob assured me that he will be far more careful in the future with just how drunk the people are who he lends his car to, he gave me a 100% guarantee” – Joe the Worm

    • dsmithhfx

“She obviously forgot to return my keys after delivering that bag of mickeys stole my keys. I have no idea how her panties ended up in my room, when all I wanted was something to eat. Somebody must have planted them, probably a lefty from the Star. Joe, rehab is amazing!”

    • nevilleross

This being the same Joe Worthington now saying that Thistledown shouldn’t have been closed down. How can one man kiss so much ass?

  • SonuvaScrimbro

Please tell me you were kidding with that last sentence.

Boring is good. Boring means stable. Stable means stuff gets done. And man, we need to get a lot of stuff done around here.

  • Nadreck

He’s following the arc of his role model – Mike Harris: admit you’re a slobbering drunk, check into rehab and get a gal pal there. Next her husband will die of spontaneous combustion and Ford and her will ride off into the sunset together.

  • dannyR

Yeah, this Mc’Robb’ business initially got me thinking this is some kind of gag, possibly by the Ford circle itself. That can’t just happen by accident.

  • CanuckleDragger

If this lowlife slob returns to Toronto thinking he’s going to re enter the Mayoral Election, he should be booed off any stage he comes out on. How much gall does it take to utter the statement “I’m the best mayor Toronto has ever had”?

    • Zack Comstock

he has skin on him just like a rhino.

      • nevilleross

        And no shame.

  • Alex

Rob and his brother have too much family baggage to lug around.
Toronto needs strong leadership from someone who can handle the job.

  • Mark

So do you think that Rob Ford aka RoFo, is getting himeself clean and keeping out of trouble!!! NOT!!!!!!!! The man is a “bad thing happening” Magnet, and it’s never going to stop until he hits lower than rock bottom!!!! Stupid are we to think he would ever get better or change his ways!!!!!

    • bobloblawbloblawblah

Changing his ways is his problem, getting rid of this oaf is ours. We’ll take care of that in October.

      • TheSotSays

Ten bucks says we’re going to take care of Olivia instead. I’m tired of being tax plundered by that one.

    • CanuckleDragger

He has hit rock bottom by any human standards. The man is so self serving, he is oblivious to the damage being done to Toronto, his wife, his children, and Canada. Anyone with a scrap of decency would step down. But I’m talking about Rob Ford. He wouldn’t even be stepping down. He has , in effect, been fired. Voted out practically unanimously by the counsel he pretends to head. He is truly a pig of a man. I would like to apologize to any real pigs I may have offended by comparing them to Rob Ford. You deserve better.

  • dannyR

The media better keep a 24/7 watch on that place, or something bigger than the plates will go missing. It’ll be south of the border, painted spanking white and turned into a pickup truck. I’m not so sure someone in the police didn’t have something to do with those plates.

The cop-shop will take it to the chop-shop,
Then it’s on it’s way to Santa Fe,
And no one’s ever gonna see it again.

  • Zack Comstock

Just another day in a louts life.

  • arcticredriver

Well, there is one good thing to come from news of RoFo making such good friends with the delightful Ms McRobb. Anyone who is serious about drug rehabilitation will know not to bother considering this Bracebridge outfit.

Did it seem to anyone else, listening to Ms McRobb in that video — that she may have been still drunk when she showed up at the impound lot?

  • rcts

So you would vote for him becuase city hall will be boring?

  • Mark

Isn’t time that al the Ford family get clean, sober and disaapear from the media’s and public sight!!!! I REALLY SICK hearing about them and their continual stupid antics!!!! Just wish they would all grown up and then disappear!!!!!

  • Notcleverguy

OK this is weird, The OPP spokesperson keeps saying the McRobb had permission to drive the SUV by the registered owner, she has stressed. “rigistered owner” a number of times.
The registered owner of Rob Ford’s drunk cruiser is Deco Labels and Tags, yet Idiot brother Doug claims he has no idea who McRobb is. (I guess kind of like he has no idea who Sandro Lisi is). Something stinks here.

    • quidnunc

Did you notice on CP24 noon news Thursday the reporter “on the scene” asked cop in the interview if McRobb “was known to the police”? Answer was “No” (I’ll bet). Reporter should have asked if RoFo was “known to local police”, not that she’d have gotten an honest answer, BUT…
Why are we treating this as a story about some pathetic local ditz who likes to drink too much, drive, and visit buddies at the rehab centre she just got out of? Because she was BRAGGING around town that it was RoFo’s car.
If McRobb isn’t “known to police” she certainly is “known” to a lot of folks around town. The “celebrity lifestyle” and the police enablers.

      • dsmithhfx

She doesn’t have a criminal record. Story I read is that she had some sort of serious head injury a year or two ago, couldn’t keep her job, been in a couple of failed relationships, has a kid, is ‘going through a rough patch’. Oftentimes people in that kind of situation make bad choices.

Rob Ford (and for that matter, other patients) should not be allowed to keep a car at the rehab facility (because they are being treated for substance abuse issues– hello?), and should be discharged if caught driving while (supposedly) in rehab.

Clearly that’s not how this resort spa operates. As someone else pointed out, this is an advertisement for people who need help to stay the fuck away from this place.

        • Notcleverguy

I love how Rob made his grandsons departure for rehab being driven by someone with a follow car with his luggage to a waiting private jet to whisk him off to Chicago. Only to be turned back to drive himself to cottage country.
And I’d still like Deco to be somehow complicit in this drunk driving thing, seeing as they own the car.

          • dsmithhfx

That’s a bit of a mind-blower. I thought Doug *bought* the car as a *birthday gift* for Rob. Turns out it’s leased by Decco. I wonder if it’s being expensed on corporate taxes. Something’s not quite right there.

          • Notcleverguy

This is what I’m saying, there has to be more to this. Especially if the OPP keep saying, “The registered owner gave permission to use the car”.

Not to mention your finer point. A private company can give a car to the “mayor” who is not an employee of said private company as a gift?

          • dsmithhfx

I don’t think the OPP can be characterized as impartial, given how they tried to spike the TPS investigation into Ford’s criminal activities and affiliations when they were asked to provide “oversight”.

          • Notcleverguy

Agreed. however I think this Decco owning the car, might be something the integrity commissioner might want to look into.

          • dsmithhfx

Well, Doug is not running for re-election, Rob is highly unlikely to be re-elected, so that’s probably a moot point (unlike criminal charges).

          • quidnunc

Interesting how often Rob’s car is driven by drunks, but the only time its pulled over is when Ms McRobb is driving. And the Ford family has been cottaging in Muskoka how long?

        • quidnunc

You’d have thought, or at least I would, that with all the experience the Ford fandamily has with “rehab” they’d have made a wiser choice.
This isn’t rehab. Robbie’s just running his campaign, staying in the news, where he doesn’t have to face pointed questions in scrums or debates.

  • TheSotSays

Rob’s going to be busy, but he has promised to lend Ms McRobb the Escalade for the purpose of driving Olivia to the airport right after the election.

That’s a lot better, don’t you think, than just having the old girl peddle away on her bicycle.
