Toronto bikes get their spiritual spring tune-up.
WHERE: Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre (427 Bloor Street West)
WHEN: Sunday, April 27, noon–1 p.m.
WHAT: The fifth annual Blessing of the Bikes, hosted by Trinity–St. Paul’s United Church. Each year, Trinity–St. Paul’s hosts this service to “celebrate another season of healthy human-powered transportation and to recognize cycling as a part of living ethic of sustainability.” Those in attendance shared a moment of silence for cyclists who lost their lives this year. TSP Minister Vicki Obedkoff and Dr. Dennis Patrick O’Hara of the Elliott Allen Institute of Ecology and Theology led the service— which represents a “spiritual aspect of bicycle safety”—and people also had the option to have their bikes checked and tuned up by one of the Bike Pirates.
