FIELD NOTES: You’ve got to love the West Toronto Railpath. The speed at which new graffiti pops up there rivals only that of nearby condo developments. This is the second time we’ve featured the backside of the Tower Automotive building in almost as many months (you can still see the huge mural in this photo). At almost 100 years old, this is one of our city’s ever-dwindling number of architectural treasures. But as has happened with many of our other older buildings, Tower Automotive is slated to become condos. Maybe, back in 1919, buildings like this were a dime a dozen. Maybe no one would have blinked if it disappeared. Today, though, there are people fighting to preserve its heritage. It makes you wonder which of our many new architecturally underwhelming condos people will be fighting to preserve a hundred years from now.

Once a week, Vandalist features some of the most interesting street art and graffiti from around Toronto. Find something great? Email vandalist@torontoist.com.
