Duly Quoted: Doug Ford

The mayor's brother wants his troubled sibling to take a couple weeks and turn his life around.

“Well, this is my opinion. If Rob goes away on a little vacation, a week or two weeks, comes back. Rob loses 50, 60 pounds, stays on the straight and narrow—because he’s a good man, and he’s an honest man…it’d be tough to beat Rob Ford, and I think they underestimate him all the time.”

—On AM640 this morning, Doug Ford (Ward 2, Etobicoke North) told host John Oakley about his preferred rehabilitation plan for his brother, Rob. (You can listen to the full interview here.) A recent Forum poll indicates that the mayor would have an easier time getting reelected if he were perceived as being “clean and sober”—but, as Oakley pointed out during the interview, one or two weeks isn’t a lot of time.
