Duly Quoted: Phillip Crawley, Globe and Mail Publisher and CEO

If you make six figures, the Globe wants to be your friend.

“We are really only interested in readers who earn more than $100,000.”

—Crawley said this during a World Publishing Expo presentation. (Advertisers like to target certain groups of consumers, so a wealthy readership can be useful in attracting ad buys from companies looking to sell to to the well-heeled.) The same Journalism.co.uk article from which this quote was taken also has him saying that 40 per cent of the Globe‘s content is read by 1000 people or fewer.
