Duly Quoted: Mayor Rob Ford

Rob Ford's solution to a PR problem: angry yelling.

“I am so fucking mad at you right now.”

—Another page from the Rob Ford public-relations handbook: when columnists criticize you, curse them out as though they’re disobedient lackeys.

  • Jacob

I’m trying to think of some analogy about abusing some appendage that provides food to you, but I can’t quite recall.

  • istoronto

Rob, I just think your fucking mad! As in not all “there”, not even close to being all “there”!

  • HotDang

Maybe he was implying that the other mad people were higher-ups at The Sun. Either that or some of his thugs.

I miss having a mayor who didn’t have thugs.

  • dpirraglia

The best thing about that (Toronto Sun) article is the poll at the bottom, with 51% (of approximately 12000 votes as of today at 12:45) saying yes, this is appropriate behaviour for a mayor. Umm. Pretty sure this is appropriate for NO ONE, never mind a mayor.

    • Dinah Might

One of the commenters on the Sun page said they saw the pro-Ford numbers increase by about 600 in five minutes. Robo-votes? Seems possible at least.

      • adamd1

It is definitely rigged. Sunmedia polls are ridiculously unsecure. They can’t possibly be considered “scientific” either.

        • Dinah Might

True, that holds for pretty much all website polls I would guess.

          • adamd1

I should clarify: I don’t mean that sunmedia has rigged it. Someone out there wants that poll to remain high on the “yes” vote, so they’ve automated the voting to bump that value. It’s easily manipulated.

          • dpirraglia

Right, that makes sense. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity (minus the person who did the rigging.)

  • Welshgrrl

I’d remove the “… at you right now” part. Ford would then be pretty spot on for a change!

  • Justin Flontek

I like how Ford has managed, yet again, to throw gasoline on the fire.

  • kidsantiago

The scariest part of that article is the allusion to the backroom cabal that’s running Ford and protecting his interests: “‘I am not the only one that is pissed at you,’ he said. ‘There are others.’ Not knowing what that meant, I asked him if I should consider myself in any danger? After some back and forth between Ford and I, the mayor said: ‘I am going to hang up before I say something I regret.’” If Rob Ford is one day implicated in an organized crime ring, would anyone be surprised?

  • Patrick_Metzger

I wonder how many times a day he says that.

  • dsmithhfx

Rob should deffo tie one on and go walkabout. Yeah.

  • Dinah Might

Is there a FordRadio recap this week? Or did they just chat about football and stick to inoffensive topicsHAHAHAHAHAHEEHEEHAHAHAHACAN’TBREATHE

  • blearghhh

Hey, come on here. This is blatant misreporting. According to Warmington, the quote was “I am so f—— mad at you right now”. f—— Could be anything! I am so footballing mad at you right now is probably what he said.

    • wrdzofwzdm

or maybe “I am so fat and mad at you right now.”? :)

      • blearghhh

Perhaps it wasn’t even redacted, and he actually said f——? I don’t know how you pronounce the -, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

        • vampchick21

Fuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!! (insert annoying rage comic here)

  • timeoutofmind

i want sovereignty for toronto. if you fucking idiots in 905 want this drunken lying jackass as your mayor, go start your own lifeless spawl of a city and vote him in as often as you want. i’m tired of this fat retard pretending to represent us.

    • Casey Boudreau

What do 905ers have to do with Rob Ford? He is the mayor of Toronto, not of Pickering.

Also, “fat” and “retard” are not the preferred nomenclature, dude.

    • HotDang

      sovereignty for toronto

Then we’d have Prime Minister Ford.

      you fucking idiots in 905

I’ve heard about 905ers who own property in Toronto voting for Ford, but it seems unlikely that they swung the election. Blame Etobicoke, North York, and Scarborough.

And please accept my condolences for whatever tragedy befell your shift keys.

    • OgtheDim

Hmm…you may want to talk to your fellow Torontonians (as you seem to define them).

Polls in the old city tended to be between 10 and 25% for Ford.

    • vampchick21

There is so much wrong in that statement. Listen, we’re all tired of what Ford has been up to, we’re all fustrated and angry. But to bash at Mississauga, Durham and points north? What did those poor bastards do to deserve such hate?

Also, please to look at an area code map and rethink your statement.

  • bobloblawbloblawblah

…..and a few more spokes break on Mayor RoFo’s little tricycle.

  • bo ngan

My anlalogy is that this is another ongoing manfestation of what I term 4D’ s political herpes. A recurrent conditions of outbreaks of political itches then crops of sores that seems to self heal and then comes back. Unfortunately like all herpes, there is no cure

  • bobloblawbloblawblah

Ford is starting to remind me of Nixon. Angry, paranoid, drunk, near- the – end – of – his term Nixon.

    • vampchick21

Arooooo! Go get em Headless Body of Agnew!

  • Jacob

Come to think of it, there’s a whole other aspect of this that is also amusing/saddening:

The column was published on Thursday morning. He apparently didn’t find out about it until Sunday evening.

It’s obvious Rob doesn’t read newspapers, but you’d think at least one person on his staff was assigned to keep up with the dailies.

    • vampchick21

Do you want to be that person though?
