- Mayor Rob Ford has invited Ryerson University President Sheldon Levy to sit on a committee charged with deciding the fate of the Sam the Record Man sign (which Ryerson is currently trying to weasel out of restoring). Levy told the Ryersonian that he “would be delighted to be part of a committee and the discussion.” Of course he would.
- Meanwhile, the organizers of the Polaris Music Prize have immortalized the Sam’s sign in their own way: by putting it on a T-shirt.
- Things at Waterloo-based BlackBerry have gone from bad to incredibly bad: the company is apparently planning to cut as much as 40 per cent of its staff by year’s end.
