- Gawker wonders the following: While he was out at Taste of the Danforth, being recorded on various cell phones and apparently very drunk, did Mayor Rob Ford tell an onlooker that he, Rob Ford, had “blow,” or that he had “cologne”? (All the evidence points to the mayor’s having said “cologne.”)
- In a similarly Fordy vein, Metro‘s Matt Elliott sensibly points out that it’s way too soon to prejudge the outcome of the 2014 mayoral election, which at this point might be Ford’s to lose. Among the hypothetical underdog candidates Elliott mentions is Ward 27 Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam, whose name hasn’t been mentioned much in election speculation so far. She definitely deserves a closer look.
- According to a study conducted for the Ontario Convenience Stores Association (which has been lobbying for beer-selling rights for its members), the Beer Store’s virtual monopoly on cold brews is worth about $700 million a year.
