Extra, Extra: Blurry Houses, Jeopardy Mayors, and Prestigious Awards

Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

  • Why are some individual Toronto houses blurred out on Google Street View? the Grid‘s David Topping tried to ask some of the property owners, and found them about as forthcoming as you might expect.
  • George Stroumboulopoulos’s summer gig on CNN is off to a bad start. Deadline Hollywood reports that the first episode of the show—called, appropriately, Stroumboulopoulos—captured CNN’s second-worst ratings for its time slot this year.
  • Jeopardy host Alex Trebek is now openly (albeit, presumably jokingly) musing about running for mayor of Toronto. Unlike some other celebrities with mayoral aspirations, though, he was born in Canada, meaning he might really be able get his name on a ballot.
  • Global News just became the first-ever Canadian winner of an Edward R. Murrow Award for overall excellence in network television.
