Rob Ford: Sarah Thomson’s Allegations Are “Absolutely, Completely False”

Mayor vehemently denies allegation of inappropriate conduct.

Rob Ford has just issued a statement strongly denying Sarah Thomson’s allegation that he made unwanted advances last night. The full text of his statement:

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful event to support the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee.

This is an event that is attended by numerous political leaders and where I have been a guest in the past.

Early this morning, false allegations were made regarding a number of disgusting actions. I am shocked, dismayed and surprised. I can say without hesitation that they are absolutely, completely false.

What is more surprising is that a woman who has aspired to be a civic leader would cry wolf on a day where we should be celebrating women across the globe.

This is a day we should all take the time to reflect upon the women in our lives and in our society. It is a day when we can envision the changes we want to make in our communities to ensure that all people are equal and that violence and discrimination against women comes to an end.

            The weird thing is according to the reports I’ve read he had at least three handlers/staffers there with him. Somehow they couldn’t keep him from looking completely shitfaced in front of a camera.

            Mr. Ford doesn’t photograph well at the best of times but this is worse than usual. The stain on his shirt doesn’t help either.

          an out-of-town couple. The attacks began after the man asks Mr. Ford to
          be quiet. Mr. Ford responds: “Who the fuck do you think you are? Are you
          a fucking teacher?” Failing to get a response, he turns his attention
          to the man’s wife: “Do you want your little wife to go over to Iran and
          get raped and shot?” The couple realizes the angry man’s identity after

      I’d love to know who wrote that. It obviously wasn’t Ford but it’s so badly done that it’s hard to believe his press staff would be responsible for it either.

    Regardless of whether the events occurred, rule #1 in handling public abuse accusations is to admit nothing, lay low and never..ever…ever…attack the credibility of the accused.

    It sounds like Ford didn’t talk to a lawyer before he put that out. That letter is right out of the Towhey playbook.

    BIG mistake.

      It’s been amateur hour from the start.

      Someone decided they had to spin this by attacking Mrs. Tomson’s credibility right away, then they came out with this press statement which tries to build on that. It’s really transparent and ugly, and it suggest that they either haven’t much experience in this sort of thing or they’re monumentally bad at it.

      Actually, it sounds like Ford didn’t put this out himself. If he had, he’d be talking about his football team and how the good kids of Don Bosco respect him and how he groped her for the kids etc. etc. etc.

    I suggest to Rob Ford, and everyone else, that if you’d like to stop discrimination and violence against women you don’t try grabbing their asses. Even as a joke, or drunk, or whatever lame justification your going to give yourself for behaving like a dip. Thanks.
