  • Visa’s credit-card processing system was down throughout much (or all) of the country this afternoon, but it’s back now. You may stop hoarding cash.
  • Wow, times are tough at Research in Motion: “To convince carriers and retailers that BlackBerry 10 is different, [CEO Thorsten] Heins and Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben have been crisscrossing the globe on the lone company jet—a second plane was put on sale as part of Heins’s drive to squeeze out $1 billion in savings this year.” Such restraint.
  • Now Magazine has solved the hell out of the mystery of what happened to Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington’s hat.
  • And over on Reddit, a user claims he’s seen rats cavorting on the shelves at the New Seaway Fish Market in Kensington Market. Buyer beware.

  • Not a shareholder, just wonder

What is the goal of the “such restraint” comment about RIM’s CEO?
Is it now expected that RIM should rent a car and drive around the world to meet with their customers?

    • SteveKupferman

No, but there are ways to fly business class that don’t involve actually owning aircraft. I’m sure RIM has its reasons for hanging onto the last of its jet collection, though.

      • Torontopoly

True, but RIM has an annual cash flow of $1B and no debt, so I don’t see any need for them to spend $5k-$10k roundtrip per trip on business class (look up costs of direct flights to the UK). Not to mention having to work around Airline’s schedules as opposed to their own.

When smoking outside of Thirsty and Miserable on two separate occasions I spotted a rat behind the counter of New Seaway fish market. Gross, but really not all that surprising.
