  • This Chris Spence plagiarism scandal just keeps getting weirder and weirder. It turns out that the now-former TDSB education director may have a history of swiping other writers’ work that goes all the way back to his 1996 doctoral thesis. His resignation yesterday was stunning enough, and now even his degree is in jeopardy.
  • Brian Burke, having lost his job as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is doing what most of us would do if we suddenly found ourselves unemployed in the dead of winter: seeing movies by himself and hanging out at coffee shops.
  • The TTC’s record ridership last year seems like fantastic news until you remember that fares are subsidized by the City. The real effect of the system’s burgeoning popularity is to make Toronto’s public transit more crowded and more costly than before.
  • On a more cheerful note, Winterlicious reservations opened yesterday.
