Know What’s Happening in Toronto? Write About it for Us!

You already read us. You love Toronto. And you love words. Clearly, you should join our roster of contributors as a writer for Newsstand, our daily morning news round-up.
More About Newsstand Writers
Newsstand is our morning digest of local news from media outlets across the city, published at 8 a.m. every weekday and 10 a.m. on Saturdays and holidays. We’re looking for an organized, meticulous, well-read, interesting, and interested writer with terrific curatorial skills, an early schedule, and (when appropriate) a decent sense of humour, to take on writing Newsstand one or two mornings a week.
If you’re wondering whether Torontoist is a good fit for you: Check out our Contribute page to find out more about what we can offer you and what we’re looking for in all of our contributors. (You can ignore the “What We Want When You Apply” section of that page, though.)
What we want when you apply: Tell us about yourself and why you’re interested in writing Newsstand; include links to relevant writing samples if you have any. Then, write a demo Newsstand so we can get a sense of your style. For a day of your choosing—pick any of October 2012—write up an edition of Newsstand that you think would have been a good fit on Torontoist.
To apply, email us at hiring@torontoist.com with “Newsstand Writer” in the subject line. Please get your submissions in by 11:59 p.m. on Friday November 2.
