WHERE: Ontario Food Terminal (165 The Queensway)
WHEN: Saturday, September 22
WHAT: In another of our region’s growing roster of creative food-themed fundraisers, the Ontario Food Terminal let the public in for the first time this weekend, to explore a key element of our food distribution system while raising money for FoodShare. The non-profit offers a number of food-related services, including helping to provide school lunches to 140,000 kids in Toronto. The food terminal—Canada’s only one—has 5.3 million pounds of produce pass through its doors each day, on average. Visitors over the weekend got a buffet lunch (served by, among others, several city councillors) in addition to their peek behind the scenes.
