Scene: Getting Ready for the Canadian National Exhibition
The rides are being set up, giant stuffed animals are getting unwrapped, and bacon—lots and lots of bacon—is frying in anticipation of Friday's opening of the Ex.

WHAT: Though we, like everyone else, are loath to admit it, summer is reaching its inevitable end. With it comes the inevitable end-of-summer tradition, the Ex. It opens Friday, but we got a sneak peek this morning. Along with the rides are, of course, new snacks—and yes, they are just as deep-fried and crazy-sounding as you’d expect. (Bacon-covered funnel cake anyone?) Photos of what’s in store are in the gallery above. The Canadian National Exhibition runs from August 17 to September 3.
