If Someone Wanted to Start a Campaign to Save the World’s Biggest Bookstore…

…might we suggest that Johnny 5 would be a great mascot? He is full of love for the shop, properly in awe at the maze of aisles and all the wisdom they contain.

Yesterday, Yonge Street broke the news that World’s Biggest Bookstore was set to leave its iconic location: Indigo Books & Music has decided not to renew its lease when it expires at the end of 2013.

    The World’s Biggest Bookstore is too close to the Indigo bookstore inside the Eaton Centre. It would make better sense to close the Eaton Centre store and merge operations at the World’ Biggest Bookstore location.

      Too close? There are a bunch of Starbuckses across the street from each other that beg to differ.

      This is sad news. Although I feel like World’s Biggest, on my last few visits over the years, hasn’t been quite as magical as it used to be, I hate the idea of it vanishing. There was whole universe of books on Yonge, with World’s Biggest and the various used book stores.
